In 2015, Vit Jedlicka proclaimed the Republic of "Liberland" on a stretch of land between Serbia and Croatia. It is intended to be a future model for a free, self-determined society in which taxpayers become shareholders in the country and have full, direct say. The state and bureaucracy are reduced to a minimum. Jedlicka is convinced that too many taxes and senseless regulations block economic progress and thus the prosperity of a country. Thousands of people from all over the world are already citizens of Liberland and are actively and financially helping to implement this exciting experiment.
